Peter Kerre is a New York City–based empathy-driven leader, systems innovator, and cultural creator working at the intersection of social justice, public safety, cybersecurity, and music. A trusted people-first strategist, his work has consistently translated moral urgency into scalable, real-world impact.

Over the past decade, Kerre’s leadership has been widely recognized by major media outlets including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Harvard Crimson, reflecting the tangible outcomes of his community-centered approach rather than performative advocacy.

He is the founder of SafeWalks NYC, the city’s largest community-driven public safety initiative, launched in 2021 amid rising subway assaults, anti-Asian hate crimes, and increased threats to marginalized New Yorkers. Under his leadership, SafeWalks NYC has trained and deployed hundreds of volunteers, completed over 1,000 community safety walks, delivered public safety education, and engaged directly with elected officials and industry partners to reshape grassroots security from the ground up.

Kerre also co-founded StreetRiders NYC, a cycling-based social justice collective that organized the largest weekly protests globally during the George Floyd uprisings, mobilizing more than 10,000 participants per week while sustaining ongoing outreach, mutual aid, and advocacy for marginalized communities and cyclists alike.

Complementing his public work, Kerre brings over 20 years of cybersecurity and privacy leadership within major global financial institutions including JP Morgan and Wells Fargo, where he has designed, deployed, and led security programs protecting institutions, employees, and millions of customers.

A creative at heart, Kerre is also an accomplished music producer and DJ known as Xpect. Since relocating from Minneapolis to New York City in 2009, he has collaborated with Grammy-winning artist Alicia Keys and released multiple musical projects that reflect the same emotional intelligence and social consciousness found in his leadership work.
